Saturday and Sunday

Saturday was still a work day for me, but we did finish early, at about 3:30 for the day, and Sunday was a rest day, so i took a taxi over to Kuta (the main tourist area near the airport) on the Western side of the Island for some shopping.

Doing it pretty tough on Saturday Afternoon…

A typical drive in Bali. this was heading to the Discovery Mall in Kuta. its a little bit scary!

inside the discovery mall. quite impressive, and very large. nearly the entire middle floor is children's clothes, toys and shoes.

lunch at A&W. its an Asian ‘American’ Fast food place, and bloody delicious. i had it in Korea and Taiwan, and was pretty impressed when i saw it here too….oh and yes that IS a chicken burger with breakfast waffles instead of a bun…

the walk along Kuta Beach among the trees and vendors trying to sell you cold Bintang (beer), sunglasses and all kinds of other stuff.

and of course, the usual tropical beach pile of garbage???

a giant turtle on the beach. its turtle season right now, and they expect many of them to hatch in early August, so promote preserving the hatchery sites on the beaches.

which in fact is a little road full on both sides of people with little shops that hassle and harass you to try their shop. or if that doesn't suit you, go to their brothers shop just a little further along. they grab your arms and clothes and try and drag you in. its horrible.
oh and since i am Australian, they all go “G'day Mate…my name is Chuck Norris”….they obviously don't realise Chuck Norris is not Australian.
but seriously on a 500m walk, i met at least 5 Chuck Norris’s.

at the top of the road, and around a few corners was a huge roundabout with a cool statue. and also the other shopping complex i was looking for.
on the way back to Nusa Dua we drove right by the Airport.

All in all, an interesting day, and i did get to do some shopping at the Mall!

Sunday to Friday

 

There hasn't been a whole lot to post pics of, apart from the resort itself, because i haven't really had a chance to get out, until today.

This is my room. pretty nice, though calling it an Ocean view is a bit of a stretch. technically, i can see the Ocean, but its well in the distance, over the hills and treetops.

the resort is enormous, with about 20 individual swimming pools, and two waterslides.

it is literally built over the edge of a cliff. you enter at the top which is actually the 6th floor from one wing, and the 15th from another. weird. its all downhill from the lobby though.

you do get some nice views of the Ocean though.

an outdoor pavilion where on the weekend they have a traditional Balinese dragon show, and a BBQ Buffet.

next time, i want a swim up room with a balcony direct to the pool..

Today for lunch, i went to Bali Collection for lunch. its an outdoor shopping mall and restaurant area. very touristy though, all the signs are in English or Russian, and not much Balinese stuff there apart from typical cheapo souvenirs.

told you the place was big. and this is still only about a 1/4 of it.
